When we first entered quarantine, I felt free. I dropped my daily routine. For the first time ever, I was able to go without make-up, just pull up my hair and bras seemed like a thing of the past. But, after about 2 weeks of my “do-nothing” state, that freedom quickly turned into looking and feeling completely undone. It was to the point that I didn’t want anyone to see me at all, so I would turn off the camera for zoom calls and decline the Facetime calls.
Honestly, it was like I instantly lost my beauty routine. However, I wanted to do something that made me look and feel good again. So in typical fashion, I pulled my hair back into my classic bun and started digging into my make-up bag that had all of my favorites, including NARS. I quickly realized that I didn’t want to put a bunch of stuff on, so I tried to re-image a new make-up routine that was fit for home, but also appropriate for video calls at the drop of a dime.
One day as I was scrolling through IG, I saw my friend, Tahira, NARS Make-Up Artist, holding an IG live make-up tutorial that captivated me. She looked natural, but had a glow. Then she did another one and I was asking for every single item. I realized that I had already had some of the products, but had no idea how to use them in a new way to give me a new type of self-love glam.
Tahira provided me with 5 easy tips/products to make quarantine make-up look natural and fabulous and we brought them to life on IG Live. See below her tips and the items that made me glow. It was super easy and I felt like I looked good at the end of the tutorial. Thank you so much Tahira.
Tip 1: Wake Up The Eyes: Use a little NARS Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base to wake up the lid and to ensure that color holds longer. Then add a little Soft Matte Complete Concealer under the eye above the cheek bone. If you need a little pick me up directly under the eye, use the Radiant Creamy Concealer. To bring it all together you can finish off your look with a nice eyeshadow that provides a hint of color. My favorite choice is the NARS Persia Eye Shadow that provides a bit of neutral/ orange color tone.
Tip 2: Highlight The Sweet Spots: Warm up a small dot of Liquid Illuminator in the palm of your hand and pat it on your cheek bone, nose and temples. Don’t be afraid to have a little fun with it.
Tip 3: Bind Some Love To The Skin: Set face off with powder. I love the NARS Soft Velvet Powder to give me a perfect finish that is light and fresh. Plus, I use it to soften my highlighter when I get a little heavy handed.
Tip 4: Contouring To Define Features: Define your cheeks with the NARS Bronzer to define your cheeks and around your face. I love to use bronzer to define my round face. It provides the right definition.
Tip 5: Accentuate The Lips: A bold lip always works for me. So I used the Cruella lip Velvet Matte Pencil and Under My Thumb Lip Pigment. These two reds combined gave me a pop. However, I finished it with the Illuminator in the middle of my lips.
This was truly an experience and I hope that you love on your face too… You can follow Tahira on IG at @touchedbyt__. Because, there is no better time than now to show yourself some love.
